- Official Authority: the Governorate of the Vatican City State is listed by WIPO as the national intellectual property office of the Holy See.
- Legislation: under the Vatican City State Law on the Sources of Law (Law No. LXXI), in force since 1 January 2009, the Italian State legislation on patents for inventions and on trademarks, as in force at that date, is observed in Vatican City State (Article 12).
